Everytime you spend money, launch Overlapp and press the Expenses button.  Here you'll enter how much you spent, the date, and pick a Category and a Business/Store.  If there is no Category or Store listed that you want to use, press the Home button, go into Categories and create one.  Go into Businesses and create one.  Then go back into Expenses and finish your entry.  

Over time, all your Categories and Businesses will be there making entering an expense super easy and quick.

When you get money, a paycheck for example, enter that into the Income screen.

Once you have data entered, you can start to use the Analytics and Share Budget options.

If you have a spouse, partner, or someone sharing your income and expenses, you can each install Overlapp and use it independently.  Every week or so, you can synchronize with each other to make sure you each have all the captured expenses and incomes.

To share your budget with someone else, decide what to share, the entire year or just a specific month and press the Email Budget button, pick the person and send the email.  They will get a file containing budget data that Overlapp can import.

To update your budget with someone else's data, go to your email, find the Overlapp file they sent you and download it onto your phone.  Press the Import Budget button and pick the file and your data is instantly updated.  After import, you should probably delete the file so you don't import it again.  

NOTE- To keep in sync with someone, you should share your budget with them, have them import the data and then immediately share their budget with you.   Each of you can press the Analytics button to verify the same values are displayed.  When importing shared data, Overlapp ONLY ADDS ITEMS THAT YOU DON'T HAVE, IT WILL NEVER DELETE ANYTHING.  IF YOU DELETE SOMETHING, YOUR PARTNER WILL NEED TO DELETE IT FROM THEIR BUDGET AS WELL.

As the year goes on and you continue to enter your expenses, a pattern will emerge.  You probably already know which expenses are your biggest, but do you really?
